Most people see a retired person over 60 and they see a finished story—someone who’s ready to ‘settle down’ and fade into the background. Old Not Dead is a loosely organized group for men and women in the San Antonio/New Braunfels area who refuse to play that part. If you can relate to our Manifesto, then join us on GroupMe and here on the Web. Look for our 2 to 4 wheel adventures on the GroupMe app and for Tips and Tools here on the Web.

The OND Manifesto

WE REFUSE TO BE A FOOTNOTE.

Society tells us that sixty is the beginning of the end—a time to slow down, settle in, and become invisible. They expect us to trade our boots for slippers and our ambition for anecdotes, the open road for a rocking chair.

THEY ARE WRONG.

We believe that age isn’t a cage; it’s a forge. We’ve spent sixty plus years tempering our character, sharpening our instincts, and building the world. We aren’t finished; we are just getting to the good part.

To Live is to Conquer. “Vivere Est Vincere” is our motto.

WE CONQUER THE COUCH: because atrophy is the only true enemy.

WE CONQUER THE STEROTYPE: because grey hair doesn’t mean a soft heart or a slow pulse.

WE CONQUER THE OPEN ROAD, THE TRAIL, AND LIFE: because our bodies were built for movement, and our spirits were built for adventure. And when the road ends and the trail begins—at an overlook, a small-town main street, a coastline worth walking—we’re on our feet for that too. We didn’t come this far to sit in the parking lot.

We are the ones who still seek the wind in our faces and all the miles life has to offer. We are the mentors, the explorers, and the rebels who know that the most dangerous person in the room is the one who has seen it all and is still hungry for more.

The clock is ticking, but it hasn’t run out. We aren’t “aging gracefully.” We are living aggressively. We are pursuing excellence until the very last mile.

Defy the expectations. Prove them wrong.
